Maccabi Haifa is keeping its’ fans on the edge until the last minute even on this non-exciting season. Tonight, on an away game, Maccabi beat the Champion Hapoel Kiryat-Shmona 1:0 and began a close struggle with Hapoel Tel-Aviv that will pick this week with two games between the two teams. This coming Saturday in Kiryat-Eliezer, the last game of the season, Haifa needs a win to get the ticket to the Europa League prior to the Cup’s Final in which the winner automatically gets the ticket to Europe. There are another five interesting scenarios in the top playoff.
Haifa’s win was achieved thanks to Alon Turgeman’s goal on the 11th minute, when he completed a play that started by goalie Nir Davidovitch, passed through Daniel Cesarec’s who headed to his friend who scored. Haifa seemed tired, the home team had four huge opportunities that were missed, but at this time of the season we are not looking for great games but for points and in Haifa’s case the ticket to Europe and the Cup.
Haifa’s lineup: Davidovitch, Osman, Cocalic, Buljat, Tawatha, Seidu (Rozenbaum), Boccoli, Vered, Yampolsky, Turgeman (Ghdir), Cesarec (Amasha)
